The Central Virginia Film Institute will present the first ever film festival held in the Petersburg, Virginia area from May 22-24, 2008 with Honorary Host Blair Underwood. The theme, If I Can Dream It...I Can Achieve It reminds us that "Once upon a time" is a phrase that begins most fairy-tales, but its implications are far deeper than the beginning words of a story. It is the ability to "see" something. To "see" the story that will begin to unfold before our eyes: either on the written page, the screen, the stage, our imaginations, or most importantly in our lives. If we stop believing that dreams really can come true, we stop dreaming and we stop achieving.
You can help us make dreams come true! Proceeds from this year's ONA gala will go to fund this year's educational program for the 2008 CVFF. Click here to find out how you can receive complimentary VIP tickets to this year's ONA party at The Byrd!
A message from Blair Underwood, 2008 CVFF Honorary Host:
The 2008 Central Virginia Film Festival's If I Can Dream It, I Can Achieve It! initiative plans to provide over 2,400 students tickets, arts educational resources, and opportunities to attend the festival films and classes. Together, with your support, we can help the young people in our area dream about a brighter future for both themselves and their community. Our fundraising goal for this year's ONA gala is $200,000 - please join me in making a difference by encouraging every young person to Dream and Achieve! We look forward to seeing you all at the events in May.
